Who are you?

Hello, my name is Ian Hart and I'm a Freelance Web Designer/Developer based in Paris and London.

“Designer and Developer?” I hear you ask.

Yes, both. I'm not just saying that to impress you. Well, maybe a little. The point is, I’ve been playing around on the web for 7(ish) years and haven't met many people who do both well.

Sure, some designers know how to use jQuery and some programmers can use PhotoShop - but there's a difference between this and understanding the importance of creating an intricate mesh of the two art forms, Design and Program.

Yes, that's right. I just called programming an art form. I'm not really sure why.

What do you do?

If I'm honest, I spend most of my time developing - tapping away at my keyboard wondering when my next cup of tea is due whilst trying desperately to combine XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL and Flash to create the next Web 4.1.

If I have my design hat on, I'm knocking up concepts in PhotoShop or Illustrator. I also know how to hold a pencil - and sometimes I use it. On paper. Old school, eh?

I also project manage - I like to shape a project, do something a little different, make sure everybody's pushing themselves and all the other clichés. I don't like being just a code monkey.

Who have you worked with?

I've been lucky enough to work with some big and small names. These are some of them (links take you to projects I worked on):
